EMILY's List Announces Endorsement of Mary Still

July 22, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- EMILY's List, one of the nation's largest political action committees and financial resources for women running for elective office, today announced its endorsement of Mary Still, of Columbia in the 25th legislative race. EMILY's List has extended its support to Mary Still through the Political Opportunity Program, an initiative to mobilize, train, and financially support candidates running at the state and local levels.

"We have been impressed with her work history and her commitment to Columbia and the progressive values of her community.  Her long career at the Attorney General's office and her work in the Governor's office prepares her to be an active voice the 25th District and Columbia." said Susan Markham, Deputy Political Director at EMILY's List.

"I am honored to have the endorsement of this respected national organization that sent a representative to Columbia to conduct a lengthy interview with me," Still said.  "This is a group of women throughout the country who understand the importance of becoming active in the political process as a means of supporting progressive values important to families not only state-wide but also nation-wide."

With more than 100,000 members across the country, EMILY's List is one of the largest political action committees in the nation. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million to elect 71 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 13 to the U.S. Senate, and eight governors. Over the course of 23 years, EMILY's List has helped elect hundreds of pro-choice Democratic women to federal office, state legislatures, state constitutional offices, and other key local offices.

Still has also been endorsed by Missouri Votes Conservation, the Missouri National Education Association, the School Administrators Association, the U.A.W., Missouri Women's Coalition, Missouri ERA-PAC, and Laborers' International Union of North America, Local Union 733.
